This upper-level undergraduate and master's level course critically explores policies, procedures, and formal and informal measures used to assess the language proficiencies and academic achievement of linguistically diverse students in U.S. public schools. Topics included are English and native language competence; program placement, progress, and exit; and classroom-based assessments, as well as other forms of alternative assessments.
